Survey → Signup → Order Flow in Business Engine

This article explains the flow from a survey or signup to an order, in relation to the object’s deployment and status.

The starting point of the customer journey depends on the area settings:

  • Survey: Possible in areas where demand collection or interest mapping is enabled.

  • Signup: Possible in areas where service can be ordered or prepared for deployment.

  • Order: Possible in areas where the network is already deliverable.

Key Principles

  • Surveys:

    • A survey collects customer interest in a given geographical area or on predefined addresses.

    • When a survey is submitted, the address is saved as an Object with status Not deliverable.

    • Surveys can include one or more questions to collect additional information from the customer. Questions are optional — if no questions are added, the survey is presented as a simple form on the start page where the customer can enter their contact details after searching for their address. If one or more questions are configured, the customer is guided through a flow where they first fill in their contact details and then answer the questions.
  • Signups:

    • In areas where signups are allowed, they initiate the next stage of the customer journey.

    • Deposits can be collected at the signup stage if enabled.

    • Whether a signup automatically generates an order is controlled by the Create Order From Signup setting.
If this setting is set to False, no order will be created from a signup even when the object status changes to In Deployment.
  • Orders:

    • All billing is based on the order’s activation date (unless deposits are enabled).

    • Orders drive the actual service state and provisioning.

Process Flow

The customer journey can begin in different ways depending on the area settings. In areas where surveys are enabled, a customer can first submit a survey to register interest. Depending on the survey configuration, the customer either fills in a simple contact form on the start page, or is guided through a step-by-step flow where contact details and survey questions are completed in sequence. When a survey is submitted, the system creates an Object in status Not deliverable.

If the area allows signups, the customer can then proceed to create a signup. Once a signup is marked as Ready for deployment, the Object status changes to In deployment, and a Work Order is created in Business Engine. At this stage, the selected service is converted into an Order. If the Create Order From Signup setting is set to False, the signup will not automatically create an order at this step.

When the Work Order has been completed, the drop is installed, the ONT is assigned, and the Object status changes to Deliverable. Any awaiting order is then provisioned and activated, marking the service as live. The signup is marked as Connected at this stage and will retain this status regardless of any changes to the order. The signup itself is no longer relevant, since the Object/address is connected.

Summary

  • Surveys capture interest and create objects in status Not deliverable.

  • Surveys can include optional questions — without questions, a simple form is shown; with questions, the customer is guided through a step-by-step flow.
  • Signups move customers into the deployment process (deposits can be used).

  • The Create Order From Signup setting controls whether signups automatically create orders.

  • Orders activate services and control billing.

  • A canceled order does not reset the signup’s connected status.
