How to create a Service?

Here you can see how to fully create a Service, from creating Price Types to applying promotions to Services.

To start creating your services you first need to access settings mode by pressing the cogwheel icon (⚙️) on the top bar.

Step 1 - Creating Price Types

To create your Price Types, in the settings menu select Services -> Price Types and then press the "New" button with a plus symbol (+). You then decide the internal name for the Price Type and what Type it should be (e.g. Monthly), and then the external name that the end customer will see in the marketplace. Don't forget to press save.

Step 2 - Creating Service Definitions

To create the Service Definitions, in the settings menu select Services -> Definitions and then press the "New" button with a plus symbol (+). Just like the Price Types you have to decide the internal name but additionally, you have to check the boxes that fit your specific need (e.g. Allow filtering on speed which will toggle the function to show a filter on the marketplace where customers can filter the internet services based on speed). Don't forget to press save.

Once the Service Definition has been created you will need to Edit it by pressing on the paper and pen icon. In this view you'll add what file types should be attached to the Service under the "Connected File Types" widget. Don't forget to press save.

The last step in creating the Definition is adding the Price Types that we created previously. Just select them in the dropdown box in the "Connected Price Types" widget. You can then edit them to fit your needs with their display order and if it should be shown or not.

Step 3 - Creating Portal Categories

To create the Portal Categories, in the settings menu select Marketplace -> Portal Categories and then press the "New" button with a plus symbol (+). You once again you start by creating the internal name, and then you can follow this information to guide you for the other preferences. Don't forget to save.

Default = You can only have one default category. The category set as default, is the category that will be presented to the customer when searching for an address. If the customer searches for an address that doesn't have services available in this portal category, they will see the category based on the Display order.

Display order = If you have more than one portal category, you can define in what order they should be presented on the Marketplace.

Use for advertisements = Normally not used.

Visible = If services based on Service Types connected to this Portal Category should be visible on the Marketplace

Translated name (English) = The Portal category's name shown on the Marketplace

Description (English) = You can add an intro text that is presented at the top of the Service list for this category on the Marketplace. This field can be left blank.

Step 4 - Creating Service Types

To create Service Types, in the settings menu select Services -> Service Types and then press the "New" button with a plus symbol (+). Start by giving the Service Type an internal name, then you can follow the outlines under here to customize the Service Type to fit your need. Don't forget to save.

Customer Type = What customer type is allowed to Order services based on this Service Type.

Visibility
  • Always visible = Service is always visible on the Marketplace

  • Visible if available = The customer needs to search for their address, and the address must match all requirements to be displayed to the customer.

  • Not visible = The services based on this Service Type should not be visible on the Marketplace

Status = Should be set to Active, can be set to Inactive if the Service Type should no longer be used on the Marketplace.

From date = Always set to the date when you're creating the Service Type, unless you want schedule the availability to a future date.

Allow for all object types = If this box is unchecked, you can define if service based on this service type should only be available to certain Object Types such as "Commercial Buildings" or "Multi Dwelling Units."

Object availability = Defines what services that will be presented to the customer based on the Object status.
  • Deliverable = The Object is installed and has an ONT connected, the Service can be activated within minutes.

  • In Deployment = The Object requires an installation before the Service can be activated.

  • Not Deliverable = Customer will only be able to submit a survey or a signup, depending on what the Object Area allows them to do. This status is mainly used when you want to collect a Survey or a Signup before you know that you're going to deploy and connect this specific address.

Standard Workflow = The Standard Workflow holds Workflow settings on how an Order should be processed and what notifications that will be sent.

Next in the tab on the right called "Provisioning", you add the Network service and speed/s. In the tab underneath that called "Displayed For Groups" you can input the group/s that you want to have access to this Service Type.

Step 5 - Creating the Service

To create the Service, in the settings menu select Services -> Services and then press the "New" button with a plus symbol (+). As usual the first point of action is to create an internal name for the Service. You can then follow the guide below to fill in and customize the Service to your liking. Don't forget to save.

Service type = Select the Service type your service should be based on.

Speed = Select the Speed tier, if there's only one connected to the Service type, the speed will be predefined when selecting the Service type.

From date = When should the service be possible to Order? Usually, the from date is set to the same date as when you're creating the Service. If you set a date in the future, the Service will not be available to Order until that date.

Active number of days = Leave blank. Can be used to create short-term services, which will be terminated after the number of active days has passed.

Alternative RPC email = If Order notification sent to the Service Provider should use an alternative receiving address than the default one for this specific service.

Relevance = Since we checked the box "Allow sorting on Relevance" in the Service Definition, we can now set a value to define the relevance of this service. That will determine where in the Service List this service will be presented on the Marketplace. The higher the value, the higher the relevance.

Once you have saved the Service, you can now select and decide the prices in the Price Types you added previously in the "Default Prices" widget. If you selected that a contract was needed when you created the Service Definition, you can now add them under the "Agreements" Widgets. Under the "Text and Files", if you enabled ServiceLogotype, you can add the logotype for you Service (if no image is uploaded, by default the Service Provider logo will be used. Under the same widget ("Text and Files"), you can add the public Service name that the end customers will see on the marketplace, the Short description that is the description for the Service that the user will see in the marketplace when browsing all Services, the Full description that is the description for the Service that will be seen by the end customers once they've selected and are previewing the Service.

The last step is to press the "Availability" tab on the right side of the screen where you can select which groups that should be able to select the Service. Don't forget to save.

Optional - Applying a Promotion

Once you have created the service, if it is still "Open for edit", you can add a Promotion by pressing the "coin bag" icon button. You start as usual by adding the internal name you'd like to use for your promotion. Then you can follow this guide underneath, to finish the creation. Don't forget to save.

Once it has been created, you can add the discount price by using the "Discounts" widget, and pressing the "Add discount" button to connect it to the Promotion.

The last step is to select the groups that should be able to see this promotion under the "Display For Groups" widget.
