Solution Overview
Metadata fields are customizable data points linked to objects, services, and orders, network elements, etc. allowing users to capture extra information not covered by default fields.
Managing Metadata Fields
- Create New Metadata Fields:
- Go to the "Metadata" section in the Administration portal by searching for Metadata in the search field. Or go to Settings, Settings Menu, Data and Metadata.
- Click "Create new metadata" and define the field.
- Connect Metadata Fields:
- Link metadata to services, objects, or orders in their settings under "Connected Metadata."
- Edit Metadata Fields:
- Go to the "Metadata" section, select the field, and make changes.
If a field does not appear in Admin, Export, or Import, it may be due to the Read and Write rights settings. Check and adjust these permissions to ensure visibility and edit access.
Common Uses of Metadata Fields
- Address Details: Adding additional information about the address (object). For example an external ID number
- Service Customization: Capture specific customer requirements. For example Connection or Payment instructions
- Network Management: Store technical details about network components.
- Order Processing: Record special instructions for order fulfillment
