How to add additional speeds to an existing Service Type?

Use this guide to add new speed options to an existing Service Type and make them available in the catalog.

Applies to: Operator Administrators

Step 1 — Create the new Speed in COS BE

  1. Open the Speeds configuration in COS BE (Provisioning - Speeds).

  2. Click Add (+) and complete the fields:

    • Speed Name → must match the NMS profile/name exactly.

    • Speed in / Speed out (e.g., 100/100 Mbps).

    • Set if the speed should be Allowed in all technical areas.

  3. Save the new Speed.

When the speed has been saved, it's possible to set External ID (NMS profile) per Network Element Model.

Step 2 — Allow the new Speed on the Service Type

  1. Go to Service Type
Ensure the Service Type is linked to a Network Service that requires speed (otherwise the speed list won’t appear).

  2. In the Provisioning tab to the right, under Allowed Speeds, check the newly created Speed(s).

  3. (Optional) Set Fee per Speed if wholesale pricing differs per speed tier.

Step 3 — Verify provisioning behavior (if automatic provisioning is used)

  1. Confirm your Integration System and Provisioning Configuration are in place and enabled for the Partner.

  2. Place a test order (or perform a change order on a test subscription) selecting the new speed.

  3. In NMS, verify the correct profile/identifier was applied.

Critical requirement: The Speed Name in COS BE must be identical to the profile/name in your NMS (same spelling, spacing, and case). A mismatch can cause provisioning to fail.
